Our Client

Empire Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a growing construction contractor operating across large-scale residential and commercial developments throughout North-East of Ireland. Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking an experienced and driven Site Manager to lead projects, manage site operations, and oversee the delivery of high-quality construction works safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Roles & Responsibilities

Site & Project Management

  • Manage day-to-day operations across residential and commercial construction sites.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, plant, and materials to ensure efficient site operations.
  • Deliver projects in line with programme schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and building regulations.
  • Attend and lead site meetings with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and senior management.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates and reports to Contracts Managers and Directors.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues quickly to minimise delays and maintain productivity.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, motivate, and develop site teams in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ensure strong communication and collaboration between office staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
  • Promote a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Support the onboarding and development of junior engineers, foremen, and site staff.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with Irish Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and regular site inspections.
  • Maintain accurate site records including RAMS, permits, incident reports, and daily diaries.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture across all projects.

Quality Control

  • Maintain high workmanship standards throughout all phases of construction.
  • Carry out regular quality inspections and ensure snagging items are completed promptly.
  • Liaise with design teams and consultants to ensure technical compliance and project accuracy.

Commercial & Operational Oversight

  • Assist with resource planning and cost control on projects.
  • Monitor labour productivity and material usage.
  • Work closely with Quantity Surveyors and Contracts Managers to support commercial performance.
  • Ensure projects are delivered efficiently while maintaining profitability targets.

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a Site Manager role within construction.
  • Strong background managing large residential and/or commercial construction projects.
  • Proven experience coordinating subcontractors and managing multiple trades on site.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site logistics.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and site reporting systems.

Desirable

  • Degree or qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Safe Pass and Manual Handlin
  • Experience using project management or reporting software.
  • Knowledge of BCAR and Irish building regulations.
