Our Client

Empire Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing retrofit contractor operating across the Midlands and North Dublin regions. Due to ongoing project expansion, our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take full ownership of health and safety standards across multiple live construction sites.

This is a senior, standalone role offering a genuine hybrid working arrangement, combining home-based administration with regular site visits. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving a strong safety culture and ensuring full compliance with Irish health and safety legislation.

Roles & Responsibilities

Health & Safety Management

  • Lead, manage, and continuously improve Health & Safety performance across all company sites
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all Health & Safety matters within the business
  • Drive a proactive, safety-first culture across site teams, supervisors, and management

Compliance & Legislation

  • Ensure full compliance with Irish Health & Safety legislation and construction regulations
  • Develop, review, and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures, and systems
  • Prepare, review, and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Ensure compliance with Safe Pass, CSCS, manual handling, working at height, and other statutory training requirements

Site Inspections & Audits

  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits across projects in the Midlands and North Dublin
  • Identify hazards and unsafe practices, implement corrective actions, and monitor close-out
  • Compile detailed inspection reports and provide clear feedback to site management

Incident & Risk Management

  • Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations
  • Complete root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Maintain accurate accident records and statutory reporting

Training & Communication

  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and Health & Safety training as required
  • Support and challenge site management to maintain high safety standards
  • Liaise with clients, main contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies on Health & Safety matters

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within construction
  • Experience within external insulation, façades, roofing, refurbishment works, or similar construction disciplines is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and enforcement processes
  • Proven experience managing Health & Safety across multiple live construction sites
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage at all levels
  • Full clean Irish driving licence

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – essential
  • IOSH membership (or working towards) – desirable
